Mat de Koning

Mat de Koning is a rising Australian documentary filmmaker who has already earned several prestigious awards: Best Australian Director (2017 MDFF), Best Australian Documentary (2017 MDFF), and West Australian Young Filmmaker of the Year (2011 WASAs). His debut feature length documentary Meal Tickets had its world premiere at the 2016 Melbourne International Film Festival, and opened the Sydney Indie Film Festival. Mat was one of five directors selected to participate in the Art X West Series, with the ABC and ScreenWest, to direct

The Bad Guy (about prolific Australian artist Abdul Abdullah). Mat has made films in remote and metropolitan areas for Indigenous communities, and was flown to India to create an experimental film for the International Awesome Arts Festival.

In addition to being a documentary filmmaker, Mat is a founding member of Skate Sculpture, who are improving the West Australian way of life and reshaping the landscape by integrating skateable art installations and public skateparks.

Ben Marvin

Ben Marvin completed a Bachelor in Music with Honours from the London College Of Music / University of West London. He played guitar in London-based bands Niche and 68 Days. Ben commenced collaborating with Hank in 1993, playing guitar on nine of Hank’s solo albums, working on the arrangements and co-writing various songs on the albums.

Ben has played live with Hank throughout six UK, US and European tours, plus various high-profile performances including the Strat Pack Fender 50th Anniversary Concert at Wembley Arena in 2004. He was also featured in two of Hank’s DVD releases: Hank Plays Live in 1997 and Bond Live at The Royal Albert Hall in 2003.

Throughout this time, Ben has made countless television promo appearances including on the BBC, ITV, and European television. Ben made multiple appearances in the ‘Without A World’ behind the scenes videos released on Facebook by Demon Music Group. This was when Ben met Mat de Koning and proposed making this documentary about Hank. Ben now lives in Western Australia where he works as a full-time musician.
